Authenticity is key!

It’s 2020. We don’t have teleportation or flying cars. Unreal!

But hey, let us not panic just yet. The tools available to anyone with an internet connection were unimaginable even ten years ago.

And a significant amount of those tools are a result of humans being a deeply social species. Social Media is at the front of the toolbox and empowers even the smallest of companies.

But how do we use it to benefit our business, to effectively grow and showcase our values and attributes as a brand?

Today we have a few tips that’ll effectively help you and your business in the social media realm!

1. Don’t rely on Automation

Albert Einstein is noted to have said, “Never memorize anything you can look up.” This means you should devote your resources to your authentic ideas and personality, and focus on those shining through. You should not get carried away in mimicking others. What social media excels at is making us all appear equally relevant. That’s a problem when it comes to (for example) “Fake News”. But for your unique business identity, it’s urgent that you let your content STAND OUT. Research has shown that the average person spends 2 hours on social media, with Pinterest and Tumblr showing the most amount of growth. Both websites are devoted to images. Therefore, our brains are drawn to unique pictures that speak to us in powerful ways. Creating tantalizing images for your audience will put you on the social media map.

2. Enjoy it

If you’re going to spend a year or longer (on average just to establish a presence) on social media, then you must have some passion for what the content is about! I’m sure it would qualify as torture in some future digital universe to post content you don’t care about. That can only go on so long before your resources are depleted. Passion helps generate new ideas and potential.

3. Adjust your marketing lens

If you remain true to your personality, then you will begin to organically resonate with a target audience. Your story also creates a valuable marketing base, and it’s important to get it out there. Meet Aldo Kane, a former elite reconnaissance sniper. After leading a fascinating life, he is now an athlete for the UK-based company Vollebak. This is a beautiful example of a synthesis of two things merging: The target audience and the product. With this symbiosis, both seasoned survivors and the average person alike will be drawn to this boosted product on behalf of a personality. So get your story out there. Find people who have mastered things similar to your vision, and bring them along for the ride. Simple!

4. Integrate

This is a concept that can be applied to several aspects of social media marketing.

Make your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram available on one website. Let the website serve as the hub for everything else. It would be wise to create a Gmail account that is exclusively for your business.

Try to see the common link between your audience worldwide. Irrespective of social bias (age, gender, language, etc.) What are they all attracted to?

5. The last detail is a subtle one. I want you to go about your daily social media binge. But do something that takes a bit of conscious effort. Try to see which posts and ads are ineffective. Is a sponsored ad trying too hard, and getting a ton of negative reactions? Why? Notice the patterns of failure and learn to navigate away from them. People respond positively to authentic, relatable content that doesn’t speak highly of itself. If they see that, you will get the response you’ve been looking for.
