Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced the move, the latest emergency measure to deal with the financial fallout of COVID-19 pandemic.
Trump had said the extension will give “all taxpayers and businesses” more time to file returns and make tax payments “without interest or penalties,” Mnuchin had said.

It gives us Americans three months more than they normally would have to file our income tax returns for the 2019 tax year, without incurring interest or penalties.
On Friday Trump had said that “hopefully” by the time the new deadline arrives “people will be getting back to their lives.”
I believe we will bounce back very soon and probably even better than we were in my opinion.
“At @realDonaldTrump’s direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15,” Mnuchin wrote in a tweet about the extension.
It’s crazy to think we can get updates about the world from twitter a social media platform… but hey i guess it makes the us feel more safe and involved.
“All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties,” he wrote.
That’s such an awesome added on bonus no interest or penalties. I’m honestly stoked about this, and don’t forget to right off as much as you possibly can!
